During the four-month stay in Rome (Italy) I had the opportunity to embrace the arcana of my learned profession, rules of cooperation with people in the operating design office, as well as to immerse myself in the atmosphere of living in one of the largest and oldest cities in Europe.
2A+P/A Studio, led by Gianfranco Bombaci and Matteo Costanzo, taught me their approach to work and opened my eyes to the school of Italian rationalism – a style of architecture new for me, ebbing schemes and at the same time referring to the history of Italian and European design’s influence on the construction of society.
Serlachius Museum Gösta, Mänttä, Finland
The project was made for the international competition on the development of the historical museum building’s surroundings, assuming its expansion with new functions. The proposal places the new buildings in disperse around geometric square. Whole area is surrounded by unchanged park greenery, what makes it very attractive, secluded place. Most of the new features are located under the surface of the earth, so that the communication between them does not disturb the existing arrangement of the lot.
I’ve been involved in preparation of visualizations, projections and sections for already pre-prepared concept.
The Ring – contemporary urban stage for FestArch 2011, Terni, Italy
The project – an interactive sculpture and a setting of public discussion between two architects – reflects the premise of a boxing ring, which became its inspiration. Bright colors and simple forms make an interesting contrast to the historical environment.
I’ve been involved in preparation of marketing materials for the project’s implementation phase.
Casa della Memoria (House of Memory), Milan, Italy
The last stage of this competition was attended by specifically selected architectural studios, 2A+P/A being one of them.
The project consists of detailed documented concept, inspired by the Italian rationalism – white structure made of reinforced concrete creates an open-layout cubic block, inside of which archives, offices and users meeting points are located. The whole is stitched by the modern material ramp, which contains escalators surrounded by interactive multimedia tunnel.
Conceptual design in form of posters and model in scale of 1: 200 was also supplemented by a technical description, cost analysis and cost estimate.
I was involved in all stages of the project, from the first sketches to preparing visualization, technical drawings and cost estimates.
Condominio Produttivo (Creative Condominium), Concept & Publication, Italy
Studio’s research project of residential structure prototype inspired by the utopian (?) ideas of theorists such as Y. Friedman, A. Cibic or Archigram group. The concept tries to balance the premises of these ideas, in its effect postponing a system of modular houses placed in a maximum self-sufficient structure, encouraging residents to produce its own food, and – through a specific type of common areas – to a collective contact.
I have been involved in preparation of various analyzes, technical drawings, visualization and estimates describing the concept.
Made with: AutoCAD, Rhinoceros + V-Ray, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
Cooperation: 2A+P/A associati – Gianfranco Bombaci, Matteo Costanzo and Consuelo Nunez, Marco Strippoli, Daniele Michetti, Zoi Katsarou, Eliano Felicio, Katarzyna Łukasiewicz.
